Civil.GG Tournament Rules & Terms

By registering for, entering, or participating in any tournament hosted or administered by Civil.GG (“Civil.GG,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), you (“Participant”) acknowledge and agree to be bound by the following Tournament Rules & Terms (“Rules”).

1. Eligibility

Participation is limited to individuals who meet all of the following criteria:

  • Must be eighteen (18) years of age or older at the time of entry
  • Must not be a professional esports competitor
  • Must not have earned more than $1,000 USD in lifetime winnings from any EA-sanctioned tournament or competitive event
  • Must comply with all eligibility requirements set forth for the specific tournament

Civil.GG members may enter tournaments at no cost.
Non-members may enter by paying a $20 USD participation fee.

There are no geographic restrictions unless otherwise stated.

Civil.GG reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to verify eligibility at any time, including after a tournament has concluded. If a Participant is found to be ineligible at any point, Civil.GG may disqualify the Participant and forfeit any prizes, regardless of match results or tournament completion.

2. Identity Verification & Anti-Fraud Measures

Civil.GG reserves the right to verify the identity and participation of any Participant at any time, including but not limited to:

  • Requesting photographic evidence during gameplay
  • Requesting a live video call (e.g., FaceTime or equivalent)
  • Any other reasonable verification method deemed necessary to confirm identity or compliance

Failure or refusal to comply with verification requests may result in immediate disqualification, forfeiture of prizes, and removal from current or future Civil.GG events.

3. Games, Platforms & Settings

Civil.GG tournaments may include:

  • Madden NFL (any supported year)
  • EA College Football (any supported year)

Cross-play is permitted where supported by the game.

Each tournament will specify:

  • Game title and year
  • Game mode
  • Custom settings, restrictions, or rule variations

Tournament-specific rules supersede these general Rules where applicable.

4. Tournament Format

Each tournament will define its own:

  • Bracket structure
  • Seeding methodology
  • Advancement rules

Unless explicitly stated otherwise:

  • Matches are Best-of-One
  • Brackets, seeds, and match rules are final once the tournament begins

5. Disconnects & Match Interruptions

In the event of a disconnect or interruption:

  • Participants must recreate the game state as accurately as possible, including score, quarter, time remaining, and possession
  • Failure to cooperate may result in forfeiture

All determinations regarding disconnects or interruptions are made at the sole discretion of Civil.GG and are final.

6. Entry Fees & Refund Policy

Entry fees are participation fees only and do not constitute wagering or gambling.

All entry fees are non-refundable, including but not limited to cases involving:

  • Player no-shows
  • Disqualifications
  • Match forfeits

Administrative Refund Exception:
If Civil.GG removes a Participant for administrative or eligibility reasons not caused by Participant misconduct, any paid entry fee will be refunded in full.

7. Prizes & Payouts

Each tournament will disclose its prize structure in advance.
Prizes are guaranteed by Civil.GG regardless of participation count.

Prize payouts are subject to the following:

  • Winners must complete all required tax documentation prior to payment
  • Winners may select payout via:
    • PayPal
    • Direct Deposit (ACH)
  • Payouts are processed on the second business day of the following month
  • Cash prizes may be reported to tax authorities as required by applicable U.S. law

Failure to provide required tax documentation may delay or void payment.

8. Fair Play & Prohibited Conduct

Participants must compete fairly and in good faith. Prohibited conduct includes, but is not limited to:

  • Exploits, glitches, or unintended game mechanics
  • Cheats, third-party software, or hardware manipulation
  • Collusion, match fixing, or intentional forfeits

Violations may result in:

  • Immediate disqualification
  • Forfeiture of prizes
  • Permanent removal from Civil.GG events

9. Conduct & Sportsmanship

Participants are expected to:

  • Act respectfully toward opponents, administrators, and staff
  • Follow all tournament instructions
  • Refrain from harassment, abusive behavior, or unsportsmanlike conduct

Civil.GG reserves the right to remove any Participant whose conduct is deemed detrimental to the tournament, community, or brand.

10. Administration & Dispute Resolution

All tournament administration decisions made by Civil.GG are final and binding.

Civil.GG reserves the right to:

  • Modify tournament rules
  • Resolve disputes at its sole discretion
  • Remove Participants at any time for rule violations or administrative necessity

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Civil.GG is not liable for:

  • Platform outages or service interruptions
  • Network or connectivity issues
  • Game bugs, glitches, or crashes
  • Hardware, software, or equipment failures

Participation is entirely at the Participant’s own risk.

12. Acceptance of Rules

By registering for or participating in a Civil.GG tournament, you acknowledge that you:

  • Have read and understood these Rules
  • Agree to be legally bound by them
  • Accept Civil.GG’s authority to administer and enforce tournament operations
