Combo Block on the Right Side: Your right tackle and tight end are working a combo on a down lineman. One of them chips off to the linebacker at the second level. You need to understand WHY

It works on base runs. It works on power. It works on stretch. It works on RPOs. There's no situation where knowing your blocking fits HURTS you.

Why This Works. And What It Won't Fix

The fits show you the intent of the play. What it's designed to do. Where the hole is supposed to open.

Here's what it won't do. It won't guarantee the block works. Once the ball snaps, defenders move. They have their own gaps to attack. Your blocker might get beaten. The combo might not convert cleanly. That happens.

But knowing the intent means you're not chasing a ghost. You know the right guard is pulling. So when you get the handoff, your eyes go to the right guard, not to a random hole. You're running with a plan instead of just vibing and hoping something opens up.

React to what the defense gives you.
