Runs available:\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cul>\n\u003Cli>Halfback Zone Weak\u003C\u002Fli>\n\u003Cli>Wide Zone\u003C\u002Fli>\n\u003Cli>Shift plays\u003C\u002Fli>\n\u003Cli>Halfback Zone\u003C\u002Fli>\n\u003C\u002Ful>\n\n\u003Cp>The halfback zones from here are always just good. When you get a good run play out of an overloaded formation, you add a lot of stress to defenses. I love stressing a defense.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\u003Ch3>Shotgun — where the money's made\u003C\u002Fh3>\n\n\u003Cp>\u003Cstrong>Empty Ace\u003C\u002Fstrong> — a cool formation. Not as good here as in Madden, and they kept some plays from us. Still worth it:\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cul>\n\u003Cli>Stick\u003C\u002Fli>\n\u003Cli>Curl Flats\u003C\u002Fli>\n\u003Cli>Quick speed flats — nice quick dump offs\u003C\u002Fli>\n\u003Cli>Routes over the middle\u003C\u002Fli>\n\u003C\u002Ful>\n\n\u003Cp>\u003Cstrong>Empty Woff Trips \u002F Empty Trips Off\u003C\u002Fstrong> — they sound like the same formation. They're not. Check the little alignment differences. Both are full of quarterback run plays.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\u003Ch3>Bunch Tight End — the swing series\u003C\u002Fh3>\n\n\u003Cp>This is the bread and butter. It's the little swing series.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\u003Cp>\u003Cstrong>Motion Halfback Swing\u003C\u002Fstrong> — pure swing screen. The halfback gets out really fast. Because there's compression, the defense gets outflanked incredibly easy. Not impossible to defend, but when they do defend it, they tip their hand a lot. Man coverage gets caught up = huge gain to the outside.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\u003Cp>\u003Cstrong>The counter — Motion Spacing.\u003C\u002Fstrong> Don't like Motion Jailbreak Screen. Motion Spacing is the counter. They added a short post route (a route we'd kill for in this play) and it does a good job against man AND zone.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\u003Cp>The idea: show swing screen, then build route combos around it. Stuff you can layer on:\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cul>\n\u003Cli>Blood concept to the left\u003C\u002Fli>\n\u003Cli>Seam route — Zigg open in the seam\u003C\u002Fli>\n\u003Cli>Corner route above a hard fly defender — touchdown\u003C\u002Fli>\n\u003C\u002Ful>\n\n\u003Cp>The swing could still be open too. You're not doing anything complicated. You're taking a good concept and building on it.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\u003Cp>Also worth revisiting: \u003Cstrong>Pistol Trips Wide Over\u003C\u002Fstrong> — unique formation with a really good run play. Audible into Bunch Tight End from there. You can imagine how annoying that would be.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\u003Cp>\u003Cstrong>Bottom line:\u003C\u002Fstrong> This playbook is taking the world by storm. It's the Gun Bunch Tight End and that little swing series.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\u003Ch2>Is California a good all-around playbook in CFB 27?\u003C\u002Fh2>\n\n\u003Cp>Yes. Cal isn't just a five-wide playbook. It's an all-around really good playbook. This was one of my favorite day-one playbooks in Couch Ball.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\u003Ch3>Gun Five Wide Receiver Tight — Clear Deep\u003C\u002Fh3>\n\n\u003Cp>Lots of great plays here, like Mesh Post. But the big hitter is \u003Cstrong>Clear Deep\u003C\u002Fstrong>. Flip the play so your bunch is to the right, or to the wide side of the field.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\u003Cp>Main reads:\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cul>\n\u003Cli>Corner route on the outside bunch wide receiver (outside trips guy, left side)\u003C\u002Fli>\n\u003Cli>Right side: slot fade B — or drag him as a checkdown, your call\u003C\u002Fli>\n\u003C\u002Ful>\n\n\u003Cp>Be honest with yourself: \u003Cstrong>this is a tougher ball to throw.\u003C\u002Fstrong> It's not always super open. Tight squeeze at times. Bombing is probably harder this year than any other. But if there's one play to bomb with, it's Clear Deep out of Five Wide Receiver Tight.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\u003Ch3>Gun Five Wide Receiver Tight — Mesh Post\u003C\u002Fh3>\n\n\u003Cp>Easy play. Snap it and work your reads:\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Col>\n\u003Cli>Double drags — check these immediately. Great vs man. Defenders bump each other. Develops fast.\u003C\u002Fli>\n\u003Cli>Post route — getting open over top\u003C\u002Fli>\n\u003C\u002Fol>\n\n\u003Cp>One rule no matter what you call: your offensive line needs to at least PRETEND to block. If they don't block, you're done no matter what you call.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\u003Cp>The Y route can be open too — but a bad read here will get you an interception. You need to be a more experienced passer to make that read consistently.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\u003Ch3>California red zone and short yardage — Gun Trips X Nasty\u003C\u002Fh3>\n\u003Cul>\n\u003Cli>Motion screen is good — just not as good as the Gun Bunch Tight End one. You don't get the same leverage without a compressed set\u003C\u002Fli>\n\u003Cli>The motion hback swing isn't bad, just not as good. First reads: check the swing and the zig route inside. See what's there, then work from it. Drive Post is solid\u003C\u002Fli>\n\u003Cli>\u003Cstrong>Cluster Halfback Strong\u003C\u002Fstrong> — you could run only this and do a lot of damage. Motion Mesh Post: streak the tight end, then hit the guy underneath with a nice pass lead — possession catch, touchdown\u003C\u002Fli>\n\u003Cli>\u003Cstrong>Bunch Nasty — Double Pass\u003C\u002Fstrong> — tougher to throw, lots of picks, but can hit for big plays. Nice bomb if you want it. Natural motion gives an okay swing, and the stock play is legit vs man\u003C\u002Fli>\n\u003Cli>\u003Cstrong>Bunch Strong Nasty\u003C\u002Fstrong> — great formation. RPO Read Bubble (really good) and Dagger Wide Trail\u003C\u002Fli>\n\u003Cli>\u003Cstrong>Bunch Tight End \u002F Cluster Trips Tight End — Motion Z Spot:\u003C\u002Fstrong> zig the inside-most receiver, stem the tight end down. Backside post opens over the middle for a bigger gain\u003C\u002Fli>\n\u003Cli>\u003Cstrong>Empty Quads — QB Blast + RPO Alert QB Draw.\u003C\u002Fstrong> Check the blocking first (LEFT TRIGGER), then hit it. Both are pretty good\u003C\u002Fli>\n\u003Cli>Others: Strong Bunch, Bunch Y Flex, Y Trips, Y Off, Trio Close, Normal Y Off Close, Gun Tight Open, Tight Doubles (not as good as Fresno's, but has Cross Wheels), Single Back (no pistol)\u003C\u002Fli>\n\u003C\u002Ful>\n\n\u003Cp>\u003Cstrong>The one thing that'll mess you up:\u003C\u002Fstrong> Cal has so many good formations. The trap is bouncing around and never mastering anything. Shown to me by Civil GG coach J.
