Blocking Guide: Learn how to Block any Blitz you go up against

Almost every Blitz, or Blitz Style, is covered in here, and this gets updated often.

Madden

Important Note: 

  • If you ever need to Block your HB, do it LAST. There's a bug right now that will Freeze your adjustments when you Block your HB.

General Blocking:

  • Please turn on Auto Protection- "Base Blocking" in your Coaching Adjustments to begin each game!

​

Cover 0 Blitzes:

  • Option 1:
  1. Base Block
  2. "Untarget" the User Defender
  3. Block HB

​

  • Option 2:
  1. Set Up Base Protection
  2. ID The Linebacker on the HB Side
  3. Block HB

​

Double Mug 4 Man Loop

  • Option 1:
  1. Half Slide Away From HB
  2. ID Mike on DE On HB Side
  3. Block HB

​

Double Mug Engage Blitz

  • Option 1:
  1. Full Slide Away From HB
  2. ID DE on HB Side
  3. UnTarget DT on HB Side (weird, but this works)
  4. Block HB
  • Note: They are basically sending 7 here, so at times, you may need to block a TE and HB

Heavy Blitz (6 Or More)

  • Option 1:
  1. Block HB
  2. Block TE
  3. Base Block

Note: These are almost ALWAYS Man Blitzes, put 3 Man Beating Routes on the Field (Posts, Zigs, Slants, Drags, Comebacks, etc)

Assume the HB and TE are not Blocking unless we specify it

General Tip:

Loop Blitzes:

Option 1:

  • Set Up Base Blocking, ID the Mike on the Looping LB

Option 2:

  • Run Playaction. You can even Hot Route the HB to be on a Normal Assignement, just the PA play itself messes with the Loop

Texas 4 Man Stunt: 

Option 1 (Best):

  • Set Up All Hot Routes
  • Double Team Left Defensive End
  • Untarget User Defender (If Hovering In Gap)

Option 2: 

  • Half Slide Left

Option 3:

  • Half Slide towards your TE, Double Team the End on the Opposite Side
  • Base Block, Block HB, ID End
